Beck's: Development

This video shows the vector shapes I have created and how i have developed then and combined them to create ideas for the Beck's branding.

Faber & Faber: Development

This video shows how my work has developed from the initial ideas through to the completed covers.

Beck's: Animation

Here is the animation I have created using Flash, the design is based on the final poster design and can be used on the Beck's website and as digital advertising:

Faber & Faber: Initial Designs and Development

Beck's: Idea Generation

I have found an example of a poster by Shepard Fairey and will work on developing my ideas based around this. I like the bold use of shape and type and the way the symbols are used to form a pattern.

Faber & Faber: Logo

I could only find a small example of the Faber & Faber logo so i decided to use the pen tool and trace the logo myself.

Beck's: Illustrator Brushes

As further development of the Becks bottle as a brand identity, I have developed a brush in Illustrator that can be used to create pattern and circles of the becks bottle shape.

Beck's: Illustrator Bottle

I decided to work on a tutorial converting an image of the Beck's bottle to vectors, I traced the paths using the pen tool in Photoshop and converted then in Illustrator to end up with this vector image:

Crit Notes 2: D&AD, YCN Briefs

Beck's:
  • Following the guidelines/Brand Book.
  • Map to show the whole Fusions Music and Art brand direction.
  • 'Shepard Fairey' inspired layouts and designs 'Rise Above'.
  • 'Fusion' and 'Canvas'.
  • Working using a step and repeat pattern: Consider all channels of communication on screen/off screen etc.
  • Created vector symbols relating to music and art.
  • Designed layouts using the symbols.

Faber & Faber:
  • Colour coded strip: per genre.
  • 'Greg LaMarche' inspired cover designs.
  • x5 covers initial treatments that will extend across to all covers in the Faber and Faber PoD range.
  • Illustrator created ideas/outputs.

Actions:
I now need to;
  • Look at other examples of arrows for use in the Becks Layouts.
  • Consider how the design will work in animation for TV and Web.
  • Designs that will work on 48 sheet/Ad shell.
  • Designs for Run-outs as well.
  • Show how the designs will work in the real world e.g. place the advertising on a photograph of a bus shelter etc.
  • Create variables in the layout design, think about contrast.
  • Work up designs using collage and vectors, relating to the work of Greg LaMarche.
  • Consider how the entire book will look; front, back and spine.
